Markdown to Word, equations included.
Paste Markdown — a ChatGPT or Claude answer, a README, any .md file —
check the preview, and download a Word document. Formulas become real,
editable Word equations; tables stay tables. Nothing is uploaded.
Converted in this browser tab. Your text is never uploaded.
What carries over to Word
Math becomes real Word equations
LaTeX in $…$ and $$…$$ — and ChatGPT's \(…\) / \[…\] — turns into native Word equations you can click and edit, not pictures of formulas.
Tables, lists and code keep their shape
Pipe tables become Word tables, numbered and nested lists stay lists, and code blocks, quotes, links and task lists come through with their formatting.
Diagrams are drawn for you
Fenced mermaid blocks — flowcharts, sequence diagrams, timelines — are rendered in the preview and embedded in the document as images.
How to convert Markdown to Word
- Paste your Markdown. Copy an answer with ChatGPT's or Claude's Copy button, or open a
.mdfile, and paste it into the left pane. - Check the preview. The right pane shows the document as it will appear in Word — headings, tables and equations included.
- Download the .docx. Click Download .docx. The file opens in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, Pages, or Google Docs (upload it to Drive).
Markdown to Word — questions
Is this Markdown to Word converter free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark, no page limit — convert as many documents as you like.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser tab; your text never reaches our servers. The page keeps your latest text in this browser's local storage so a refresh doesn't lose it — Clear removes it.
Why does ChatGPT's answer look broken when I paste it into Word?
ChatGPT formats its answers in Markdown. Word pastes the raw source, so you get **asterisks**, ### headings, pipe characters instead of tables and LaTeX instead of equations. This converter interprets the Markdown and writes a properly formatted Word document.
Does it handle ChatGPT math?
Yes. It understands ChatGPT's \(…\) and \[…\] delimiters, standard $…$ / $$…$$, and copies where the backslashes were lost. Each formula becomes an editable Word equation.
Can I edit the equations in Word?
Yes — they are native Word (OMML) equations, the same kind Word's own equation editor creates. LibreOffice Writer opens them too. Google Docs converts them on import, but complex formulas may come through simplified.
What about images?
Images embedded in the Markdown and images on public web links (when the host allows it) are included. Images that point to a file on your computer, like images/chart.png, can't be read by a web page — the MDX desktop app embeds those automatically.
How is this different from the MDX app?
This page converts one piece of Markdown at a time. MDX is a desktop editor for .md files: open them directly, edit them like a Word document, save back as plain Markdown and export to Word, PDF or HTML in one click, with citations and local images. It's $15 one-time with a 14-day free trial.
Edit the .md file itself.
MDX opens Markdown as a formatted document you edit by clicking, saves back to
plain .md, and exports to Word, PDF or HTML. $15 one-time, 14-day free trial.
